Dreamy Santorini

We spent the last five days/four nights of our trip in dreamy Santorini – and dreamy is the perfect word to describe it. The island is absolutely gorgeous, the food and wine delicious, and when I really think about it, I honestly do not have one bad thing to say about our time spent there. Not one. Aah.

Actually, I really don’t have much to say at all (just a few bits about where we stayed and what we saw), the pictures will totally speak for themselves.

Our resort was perfect. Set in Megalochori (a sleepy village away from the crowds of the tourist towns), it was small and we felt like we were hidden from the rest of the island world.

Note: Because Andrew spent 150 nights in SPG hotels over the last 12 months for work, we enjoyed The Vedema  for free. In a million years, we would never pay the normal rate for a room and spent most of the week in shock that other people do. I guess when you are Angelina Jolie (apparently she and Brad and the kids have visited), it’s more likely to fit in your budget.

Needless to say, we loved the place, our room and the service. Not exactly sure it’s worth another 150 days apart in 2012, but certainly a nice token for all the long distance we endured.

Even our room key screamed pricey.

The room had an amazing breeze and we skipped AC for the entire stay.

We had 3 large rooms and a veranda with our own jacuzzi.

My favorite was the changing room.

After all the running around, I was anxious to settle in, which was exactly what I did.

The first night we had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and made ourselves at home. We were instantly and completely in love with part 4 of our trip.

The only other things I want to point out before I just post pics:

  • We spent one afternoon/evening on a catamaran. I would recommend this to anyone who visits Santorini. We had amazing food and endless drinks and got to experience the island from the sea as the sun set.
  • We rented a 4 wheeler for 2 days and that is how we got all over the island. It was inexpensive and F-U-N.
  • There are black sand, white sand and even red sand beaches.
  • Wine tasting is a must. You’ll see in the pictures that we ordered a full tasting at one place and had enough wine to last for hours.
  • Every meal we had was so fresh and so delicious and always with a view to die for.
  • Simply put, before the end of your life, you should strongly consider making the trip.

So without anything further from me and in no particular order, I give you our days in dreamy Santorini.

Our ride.

The skies literally could not be bluer and the contrast of the buildings…

it never got old.

The wine (yes, we did drink all of it – don’t judge).

Whether we were driving through the countryside, in the city, or on the sea, it was breathtaking.

Um yeah.

The colors changed at every turn.

Love.

See what I mean?

Simply dreamy.
